Electrical Work XV: Coralling the Breaker Box

March 4, 2010

After getting all the wire fished in all the installed conduit, I decided to crack open the breaker box and see if I could tame all the wires in there.  The first step was to pull everything out then get it grounded.  (No, not disallow it from going out to the movies or with its friends; connecting the grounding wires to their bus.)

Grounding wires all hooked up.

After that it was time to get the box neutralled.  (No, not made incapable of reproducing; all the neutral wires installed into their bus.)

Ground and neutral wires all hooked up.

After that, all that remained was to hook up the hot wires.  (Sorry, no clever quip for this one, just hooking the hot wires to the circuit breakers.)

All the wires connected.

Now I’ve just got a few loose wires left in the circuit box that will be replacing the wires in the circuit breakers which are still running the bad, old electricity in the house.  If only I had a plan for replacing my own loose wires and not just the breaker box’s ones…

      Not a chance!

“…hook up the hot wires. (Sorry, no clever quip for this one, just hooking the hot wires to the circuit breakers.)”

(Well, they were HOT wires, so I shouldn’t have had any trouble getting them dates for the evening, but instead I just connected them to the circuit breakers.)
